Spent a few days staying at our boat drivers (Pee-rote) house with his family. Set up my hammock in his backgarden. Without a doubt one of the best christmas presents I have ever received! So comfortable! Place is covered in Asian Toads and Asian House Geckos, still yet to find a Tokay Gecko but I heard them every night (a very loud and adorable "Tok-aaaaayy" noise). After a banana and coconut run into the "hood" we headed to the dam to get a boat to the research island.
We then got settled on the island. In the centre of Cheiow Larn lake. Started pilot surveys on three of the study islands. Mammal traps were planted across numerous transects in order to assess small mammal diversity. Observed palm bats roosting on the underside of a palm frond. After returning to our base island to be greeted by an odd Ukrainian tourist couple, the guy was wearing budgie smugglers from the 80s.....
Began surveys for Draco lizards, so far seen very few, did manage to see one gliding. Internet is none existent on the island as the Thai SIM cards we received are useless. Currently using the WiFi from the local ranger station.
